Your Hometown Bookstore

We offer a wide array of fiction, from science fiction and fantasy to mystery and classic literature. We also have a small but tastefully curated non-fiction section featuring mainly history and biography. You'll find a well-stocked children's section for babies through teens. There's definitely something for everyone here. 

Main Street Books is at 426 Main Street, in the historic Brown-Feuer Building. Built in 1837, the Brown-Feuer Building features exposed brick walls and original, restored tin ceiling tiles. This space was formerly home to City News, a longtime newsstand and source of magazines and books to the Lafayette community.  Lafayette's historic downtown is a vibrant, thriving community with an active arts & market scene.

We're a used bookstore, and we buy used books! We are looking for paperback fiction books that are new enough to have bar codes, and are in good condition. We are currently NOT buying any hardback mystery books. We pay 50 cents cash, or $1.00 store credit for each book we can use. We buy books any time that we are open.  We have a limit of two boxes per visit. Any books not picked up within 24 hours will be donated.
